With the aim of expanding partnerships, Yarmouk University (YU) is holding talks with a host of US higher education institutions.
YU has agreed with Virginia Tech University (VT) to identify common master’s-level electrical and computer engineering courses as part of a plan to expand partnerships with world-renowned colleges, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The two universities also discussed cooperation in the "One Health" programme Yarmouk University will launch in the next academic year after receiving official approval, according to Yarmouk University Preident Nabil Heilat.
He said that his institution also discussed cooperation in research with the University of California Irvine (UCI), including scholarships by the UCI for doctoral students from Yarmouk University, and Arizona State University (ASU) in Digital Learning/Education and Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
Yarmouk University also discussed prospect of having a joint professional certificate in cybersecurity with Purdue University, a public research university that advances discoveries in science, technology, engineering and math.
Also as part of the cooperation programme, Yarmouk University also held discussion with the University of Missouri, Oakland University and the University of Michigan-Dearborn regarding sending faculty members from Yarmouk University's Engineering college for joint research projects, and also opened channels with George Washington University and Binghamton University.
