The Ministry of Agriculture on Monday said that "the entry of some small groups of desert locusts into cities and residential areas does not pose a threat to vegetation or human health”, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
In a statement, the ministry said that it will not use pesticides to control locusts in populated areas to safeguard people’s health. Control measures will only be taken outside cities and residential areas, it said.
The ministry also called for using window screens to prevent locusts from entering homes, warning against touching dead locusts as they may have been contaminated with pesticides.
