Lower House, Senate denounce extremist Israeli settlers’ attacks on Jerusalemites
Nayrouz News Agency :
The Lower House on Friday described the attacks on Jerusalemites by Jewish settlers with the support of the Israeli authorities as "organised terror operations”.

In a press statement, cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, the House said that the Israeli attacks aim to "completely seize the city of Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites”.

Settlers’ belligerence on Jerusalemites in the holy month of Ramadan is a "blatant" violation of religious beliefs and the legitimate, natural rights of Muslims to practise their rituals smoothly and peacefully, the Lower House said.

The House said that all Jordanians are angry with the position of the Israeli government as the occupying power, which constantly violates international agreements and treaties.

In this regard, the House called on the international community and its various organisations to take immediate action to force Israel to put an end to these "heinous racial violations” condemned by international law.

The House said that urgent messages will be sent to the Arab Parliamentary Union and other international parliamentary federations to take a "clear" position on these violations that the Jerusalemites are facing on their occupied homeland, said the statement.

On future action, the Lower House said that it will work to coordinate positions with Palestine, with regard to the Jerusalemites' right to participate in the upcoming Palestinian elections.

Meanwhile, Senate President Faisal Fayez on Saturday said that Israeli practices and the attacks of "Israeli settler herds” on Jerusalemites, Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites will not cause the resilience of the Palestinian people to fade away.

Fayez also expressed the Senate’s utter rejection of these racist Israeli assaults, considering these acts as "state terrorism” that the international community has to bring to a stop and hold Israel accountable for its crimes against the Palestinian people, Petra, reported.

He also voiced the Upper House's backing to His Majesty King Abdullah’s efforts at all levels and arenas in supporting Jerusalem and defending its Arab identity.

The Senate president called on the international community, UN Security Council, other UN bodies, international organisations and all parliaments of the world to bear their moral and humanitarian roles to protect Jerusalemites and the holy city.

Also, on Friday, the Foreign Ministry condemned provocations and incitement by groups of extremist Jews in East Jerusalem.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Deifallah Fayez said the Israeli authorities, in their capacity as the occupying power, are responsible for the assaults against the Jerusalemites, according to Petra.

Fayez condemned the Israeli restrictions imposed on worshippers at Al Aqsa Mosque/Al Haram Al Sharif, calling on the authorities to respect the sanctity of the holy month of Ramadan.

The spokesperson also urged the international community to bear its responsibility and exert pressure on Israel to halt its ongoing violations and provocations at Al Haram Al Sharif and in the Old City of occupied Jerusalem.
