The Jordanian-European Parliamentary Friendship Association on Monday issued a statement condemning the violence instigated by extremist Jewish groups against Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem.
Following is the full text of the statement sent to The Jordan Times:
"We, the chairman and the members of the Jordanian-European Parliamentary Friendship Association express our grave concern about the violence that took place in occupied East Jerusalem, which was carried out by extremist Jewish groups targeting the Palestinian brothers living in the Old City of East Jerusalem, which resulted in the injury of dozens of Palestinian civilians. And the Israeli plans to evacuate the homes of the citizens of Jerusalem and impose Israeli sovereignty over them, as a violation of the decisions of international legitimacy, and undermine the chances of reviving the peace process to achieve security and stability of the region.
In our turn, the chairman and the members of the Jordanian-European Parliamentary Friendship Association at Jordan's House of Representatives, we strongly condemn the Israeli aggression that targets Palestinian civilians and the freedom of worship for the Palestinian people and the position of Al Haram Al Sharif (Noble Sanctuary) in Al Aqsa Mosque throughout the month of Ramadan.
We also appreciate the efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah II Bin Al Hussein, may God protect him, in defending the Palestinian cause and the rights of its people and establishing an independent Palestinian state with full sovereignty, with Jerusalem as its capital.
We call on all friendly countries and their parliaments in the world to assume its responsibility in order to stop this aggression and protect the Palestinian people.
Chairman of the Jordanian – European Parliamentary Friendship Association MP Khaldoun Hina”
