KOICA announces World Friends Korea (WFK) volunteers redispatch plan
Nayrouz News Agency :
KOICA on Thursday held the "2021 World Friends Korea Volunteer Programme Partners Workshop” in commemorating KOICA’s 30 years establishment anniversary.

The workshop was also held to introduce the programme’s partners to the new procedures and mechanisms of receiving volunteers and give them the opportunity to voice their opinions and suggestions, according to a KOICA statement.

Along with KOICA’s 30th Anniversary, KOICA sought this workshop as a great opportunity to meet with the directors of host organisations, as on April 1, 2020, KOICA had to conduct an emergency evacuation for all 15 volunteers who were providing their voluntary services in Jordan due to COVID-19 outbreak.

The workshop was commenced by KOICA Jordan Office’s Country Director Kim Hyo-Jin, who expressed her gratitude to KOICA’s partners for all their cooperation and contributions to the programme’s success for the past 16 years, said the statement.

The workshop included introducing the new plan adopted by KOICA’s Headquarter and Jordan Office to re-dispatch volunteers in lights of the current COVID-19 situation in the kingdom, in addition to introducing the new focused professions in alignment with the SDG goals and Jordanian’s government priorities.

Notably, KOICA’s new focused sectors were inspired by the SDG goals number 4; Quality Education and number 6; Clean Water & Sanitation, through which, KOICA will reflect the aspects of those goals into shaping the volunteers’ activities in a way that will nourish and influence the Jordanian Education & Water sectors.

The workshop was concluded with a discussion session with KOICA’s partners who voiced their questions, concerns and opinions regarding KOICA and the WFK Volunteers Programme.

Followed by the closing remarks of KOICA’s distinguished partner,  Ebtisam Ramadan, director of Prince Alia International School, talked about her experience with the WFK programme, in addition to the added spirit and value which the volunteer has brought to her school, concluded the statement.
