Minister of Youth Mohammad Al Nabulsi on Saturday inaugurated the MUN Youth Conference, organised by a group of school students in cooperation with the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation for the second year in a row, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
At the opening ceremony Nabulsi expressed his pride in the conference, which includes 45 private and 23 public schools, and praised its high-quality programmes, the foundation’s statement said on Sunday.
Nabulsi called on young people to reflect on their constructive discussions from the conference and to transfer the dialogues and ideas to their schools, universities and communities.
He stressed the ministry’s willingness to cooperate with the concerned authorities so the conference can be held annually.
He further highlighted the importance of dialogue, respect and acceptance of others, which is a key focus of the ministry’s youth programmes.
During the conference participants are divided into a number of councils, the statement mentioned, adding that these councils are supervised by different delegates and led in both Arabic and English.
The student-run conference is held over three days where each student represents a specific country and its positions.
The conference, with its simulation of models from the UN sessions, provides a space for young people to learn about the current challenges facing the region and the world.
The conference was first held last year under the slogan "Embrace chaos”.
