Minister of Health Feras Al Hawari on Sunday inaugurated the expansion of the Judicial Department of the National Centre for Mental Health in Fuheis, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
During the opening, the minister stressed the need for attention to mental health patients, highlighting ministry’s keenness to provide mental health services in its specialised clinics in all governorates of the Kingdom.
He pointed out that the expansion of the hospital, which was built in 1987, will make "a qualitative leap” in providing adequate treatment and care services for mental health patients.
He said that the ministry seeks to develop and improve healthcare services for those with mental health conditions.
Hawari noted that the new judicial department has been established in response to the increase in judicial cases from the Criminal Court, public prosecutors and the State Security Court.
The judicial department includes 142 beds, with an area of 6,196 square metres, and contains radiology departments, dental clinics, a laboratory equipped with modern equipment, clinics for psychiatry, psychology and sociology, in addition to catering services and laundry, administrative offices, and an office for Public Security Directorate personnel.
