State Minister for Media Affairs Sakher Dudin, on Thursday, attended a ceremony to honor winners of the King Hussein Award for Excellence in Journalism for articles, news stories and media reports published in 2020.
Addressing the gathering at the Jordan Press Association headquarters, Dudin said that the government has put in place vision that includes a fund to support print media outlets, in particular, to address the financial crisis facing them.
The minister pointed to the 51st session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers that was held in Cairo in June, stressing the need for intensifying Arab media’s role and utilizing social media outlets in dealing with content contradict with national laws including hate speech, racism, misleading news and discrimination.
At the end of the ceremony Dudin, who is also the government spokesperson, presented memorial shields to veteran journalists who have been working in the field for 25 years.
