Public servant handed 3-year prison sentence for embezzlement
A court in Amman Sunday handed an accountant at a public hospital a three-year prison with labour sentence and fined him JOD5,681 for embezzlement.
In a public hearing, the court, which deals with corruption cases, decided to commute the sentence to one and a half years with labour and a JOD2,840 fine. The sentence was commuted after the accused had returned the money he had embezzled.
The sentence that was passed can be brought up in front of the competent court for appeal.
