Head of the Lower House Foreign Affairs Committee, MP Khaldoun Haina, said the Palestinian cause is the "main and pivotal" issue for the Arab nation and the Jordanian people, which made it a priority for His Majesty King Abdullah II at all international and official forums.
Speaking at the committee's meeting on Wednesday, with the Chinese Ambassador to Jordan, Chen Chuandong, Haina called for the need to make more efforts to support the Middle East peace process and end stalemate in this regard.
Haina also lauded the bilateral relations as " distinguished and of a common nature," which requires the two countries to make more efforts to develop the ties in various fields, adding that Jordan is "still suffering from difficult economic conditions, as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic crisis."
The MP, moreover, noted Jordan is still bearing the burdens and consequences of the various refugee crises, which put an additional burden on its limited resources and infrastructure.
In turn, the panel's members stressed the importance of advancing Jordanian-Chinese relations and benefiting from Chinese expertise in many fields, especially the economic domains.
They also praised the Chinese position in support of the Palestinian cause and the Hashemite custodianship over Jerusalem's Islamic and Christian holy sites, adding that the House is looking forward to more support through more Chinese investments in Jordan.
For his part, the envoy lauded Jordan's "firm" role in bringing peace to the region and its close connection to the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of its people.
The diplomat also praised the Kingdom's political reforms, saying that Jordan and China are living a "new and historic" stage, which puts the two countries under a "remarkable" challenge to develop their political and economic approach.
The joint cooperation is "continuous," he said, adding that the bilateral relations are "deep-rooted" and China always seeks to develop them, especially in the economic fields by increasing Chinese investments in Jordan, especially in the fields of energy, telecom, transportation, agriculture, green economy, digital economy and smart manufacturing.
