The international low-cost airline Wizz Air has opened direct flights between Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) and four cities in Europe and the Middle East, at a rate of two flights a week for each destination.
Airport International Group (AIG), the airport's operator, said in a statement on Saturday that flights began in March and April, to Rome's Leonardo da Vinci International Airport, Milan Malpensa Airport, Vienna International Airport and Abu Dhabi International Airport.
The first Wizz Air flight from Abu Dhabi was welcomed upon landing at (QAIA) with the traditional water cannon salute in the presence of AIG representatives, it said.
AIG CEO Nicolas Claude said that providing flights to international destinations at reasonable prices is of utmost importance to increase air traffic at QAIA and promote tourists to travel to Jordan for vacation and business and to enjoy the various local tourist programmes.
