Mayor of the Greater Maan Municipality, Dr. Yassin Salah, said that the municipality has begun implementing maintenance and some reforms in several areas related to infrastructure, the level of public services, and the development of a package of guidelines to enhance municipal work and enable it to achieve its goals.
Dr. Salah added to the Jordan News Agency (Petra) today, Friday, that raising the level of services provided to citizens, improving the general environment, and moving towards a holistic developmental role; It cannot be achieved without enhancing the participation of citizens by defining their priorities and needs, stressing that the municipality has begun focusing on raising awareness among citizens about issues that directly affect their lives and their environment, in cooperation with civil society institutions, which are an important partner to accomplish these tasks.
Dr. Salah explained that the most prominent axes that constitute a priority at the current stage are improving public services such as cleaning, lighting, treating health problems and pollution hotspots with the advent of the summer, raising awareness of the importance of preserving the environment and protecting it from distortions and imbalances, highlighting the civilized image of the city, in addition to restructuring Stalled projects such as the waste recycling plant project, the kendarin factory, the tiles and the container factory, enabling them to achieve their production goals and provide the necessary job opportunities.
He pointed to some of the current environmental problems that constitute a challenge that must be dealt with seriously, and solutions must be found in cooperation with the local community, in order to preserve the environment and public health, including; The phenomenon of dumping rubble on the international road and within residential areas, which requires addressing all environmental distortions according to a tight plan, pointing out that the municipality will increase the green area in the vicinity of the city, in order to reduce environmental distortions at the entrances to the city.
He revealed the municipality's tendency to establish a solar energy project on one of its plots to reduce the cost of the electricity bill, which costs the municipality about one million dinars annually, noting that the municipality is in the process of implementing projects of asphalt mixtures and general maintenance work for streets and squares inside the city according to the drawn plan, which contributes to improving Infrastructure.
He stressed the importance of developing the municipality’s media system, through the establishment of a specialized media unit that receives feedback from the local community on all issues and challenges, in order to work on overcoming them and facilitating the procedures presented to citizens.
