Customs workers at Jaber Border Crossing, in cooperation and coordination with Jordanian security apparatuses, thwarted an attempt to smuggle 200,000 Captagon narcotic pills.

In a press statement on Wednesday, Jordan Customs Department (JCD) said the 36 kilograms drugs were concealed in a refrigerator truck loaded with fruits and has a foreign plate, coming from a neighboring country.

The department also announced that the customs agents at the same border crossing also seized 2.5 kilograms of narcotic crystal meth, which was hidden in a public passenger vehicle with a foreign plate and coming from a neighboring country.

JCD Director General, Jalal Qudah, affirmed customs personnel's readiness and their "high" efficiency with continuous action, along with all security departments, to confront drug scourge.

He also noted continued endeavors seek to confront threats to the citizens' security and safety, within the latest methods and technologies adopted globally, to enforce law and protect society from dangerous substances and their harmful effects.
