Her Royal Highness Princess Muna Al Hussein patronized on Tuesday the inauguration ceremony for the Faculty of Nursing at the German Jordanian University, to receive its first group of students for the first semester of the current academic year 2023/2024.
President of the German Jordanian University Ala'a Eddin Halhouli said: "The university is proud to launch the Faculty of Nursing, which falls in line with its strategic plan to enhance its role in society, including contributing to community health and creating local and international employment opportunities, in light of the global economic recession and high unemployment rates in Jordan."
For his part, the Chargé d'Affaires of the German Embassy to Jordan Florian Reindel stated that this program came in direct response to the needs of the local, regional and international market, offering to prepare graduates to work in Germany, which needs 300,000 nurses by 2035. Jordan has been identified as a potential destination, especially its nursing sector.
Director of the DAAD Regional Office in Amman Benjamin Schmaling indicated that Germany needs 240,000 workers by the end of 2026, which gives graduates of the faculty an opportunity to contribute to the German labor market after receiving training in Germany and mastering its language.
