Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Maj. Gen. Yousef Ahmed Huneiti, on Monday presided over a commemorative event, organized by the Jordan Design and Development Bureau (JODDB), to mark the centenary of the Jordan Army's name change, being officially designated as the Arab Army.
In remarks during the event, held at the Royal Tank Museum, JODDB Director General Brigadier Ayman Al-Batran underscored the integral role of the Jordanian Armed Forces - Arab Army in various areas of nation-building and development, emphasizing their collaborative efforts with state institutions as a dynamic partner in the national resurgence journey.
"This commitment extends to realizing the higher national interests and maintaining the Armed Forces’ operational duties, including their military role of safeguarding national borders and protecting national assets. Furthermore, they stand in solidarity with neighboring nations during times of crisis, in addition to holding a global humanitarian role in maintaining international peace and security," he added.
Ratib Abu Al-Ragheb, Head of the Sales Department at JODDB, highlighted the continuous directives from His Majesty the King to support and encourage excellence and distinction across all fields, noting that the establishment of the Bureau, as a nurturing hub for innovation and creativity, stands as an embodiment of the royal vision.
"Through collaboration with the academic sector, JODDB has initiated a range of programs catering to student projects. Supported by the King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD), these programs enable the crystallization of unique innovative ideas and transform them into marketable products, aligning with the interests and needs of various stakeholders," he said.
During the celebration, Maj. Gen. Huneiti was treated to a visual presentation that recounted the achievements and advancements of the Jordanian Armed Forces over the past century, serving as a testament to the Arab Army's unwavering spirit of sacrifice and dedication to its country and Arab identity.
Additionally, the event featured an exhibition showcasing the latest products from JODDB, along with a military parade performed by a unit of the Silent Sentinels, a division within the Royal Guards. The parade included weapon demonstrations and infantry movements, accompanied by musical compositions performed by the Armed Forces musicians.
The celebration's finale saw the Army Chief honoring the winners of the Creative Excellence Initiative launched by JODDB. The initiative involved numerous teams engaged in the areas of robotics, artificial intelligence, and drone technology.
