Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi Monday welcomed Vice President of the European Parliament, head of the European Election Observer Mission Zeljana Zovko, and members of the group who will monitor Jordan's parliamentary elections due to be held tomorrow.
Safadi and the EU team discussed ways and means of enhancing strategic relations and the importance of the partnership and cooperation between the Kingdom and the bloc.
The minister hailed aid the EU and member states will provide to Jordan's economic and development programs that will help it face the repercussions of regional crises, especially the burden of hosting Syrian refugees, which has exacerbated due to shrinking international aid to refugees and relevant international organizations.
The meeting also touched on developments in the Gaza Strip and the dangerous Israeli escalation in the West Bank and the region, including efforts to reach a ceasefire and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, and launch effective international action to bring about a just peace based on the two-state solution.
Safadi underlined the importance of the EU's role in these efforts.
