Jordan sends first helicopterborne aid to Gaza Strip
Nayrouz News Agency :

Under His Majesty King Abdullah II's directives, Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF)- Arab Army, on Wednesday dispatched a squadron of military helicopters, carrying relief, medical and pharmaceutical supplies necessary for the people of Gaza Strip.

The first of its kind operation came within the "humanitarian bridge" efforts to Gaza Strip, which His Majesty the King recently announced in his speeches at the United Nations and Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh, calling on all to join this initiative.

Eight military aircraft took off from Jordan towards the Palestinian coastal enclave, carrying more than 7 tonnes of humanitarian aid, including foodstuffs, medicine, health supplies, as well as food items and supplies for children.

These supplies were transported from Qarara area and delivered to the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) in Gaza, which will then distributed to Gaza people.

Jordan continues to provide support to the Gaza people through various means, as the total amount of aid sent amounted to about 56,573 tonnes, including food, relief items, medicines, health and medical supplies, according to a JAF statement.

Since October 7, 2023 , a total of about 4,082 trucks were sent from Jordan to Gaza Strip, while 53 aid aircrafts were delivered to the strip via El Arish Airport. Jordan's JAF also conducted 123 airdrops and took part in 266 other similar operations, in cooperation with Arab and friendly countries.
