In press statements about the acting workshop he is leading, actor Mahmoud El Bezawy emphasized that acting cannot be taught, but rather talent can be refined and certain flaws, such as voice tone or delivery, can be improved.
He personally recalls advice from director Khairy Beshara when El Bezawy used to shout loudly on stage. When Beshara asked him why, he explained it was because in theatre the voice must reach the last seat. Beshara replied that this is not necessary in television or cinema, and even in theatre, modern technology has made it unnecessary.
El Bezawy added that he has not changed since the start of his career, and that his passion remains constant.
On another note, the actor and screenwriter will launch his first acting workshop in the last week of this month, aiming to pass on his experience to new and talented generations. The workshop will be held under AKA Workshop.
Producer Raymond Ramses confirmed that through his company AKA Films, and in cooperation with several cinema and drama production companies, a series of filmmaking workshops will be launched under the supervision of director and screenwriter Romany Saad.
In the acting field, the workshops will be taught by Mahmoud El Bezawy, directing by Mahmoud Selim, production by line producer Walid El Sabbagh, and screenwriting by Dr. Ashraf Mohamed, former head of the Screenwriting Department at the Cinema Institute.
Outstanding students will have the opportunity to work in productions by the company and its partners, reflecting a commitment by industry professionals to nurture the profession and create new talent that can continuously refresh the industry, while helping young talents find real opportunities to enter the artistic field.
Raymond Ramses has produced and supervised the production of important films such as Sa’a Wi Nos and Wahed Saheeh, and is currently producing Shams El Zanaty and A’sabat Hamada We Toto.
