The death toll among journalists in the Gaza Strip has risen to 190 since the onset of Israeli airstrikes on October 7 last year, after Alaa Fawzi Barhoum, an editor working with multiple media outlets, was confirmed killed on Wednesday.
The Government Media Office in Gaza strongly condemned what it described as the systematic targeting of Palestinian journalists by the Israeli occupation. In a statement issued Wednesday, the office accused Israeli forces of committing heinous crimes and held them fully accountable for the killings.
The statement urged the international community, human rights organizations, and global media entities to take a stand against these violations.
It called for immediate actions to deter further crimes, prosecute those responsible in international courts, and pressure for an end to a campaign of genocide and the targeted killing of journalists.
