The Arab Parliament affirmed its full support for the Hashemite guardianship of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Islamic holy sites in the occupied city of Jerusalem.
Parliament Speaker, Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al-Asumi, praised the efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah II, the guardian of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Al-Quds Al-Sharif, in defending and protecting the holy sites.
In a statement today, Thursday, he stressed the rejection of all attempts by the occupying power to undermine this Hashemite guardianship and guardianship, which was reaffirmed by the agreement signed between His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on March 13, 2013.
He also valued the Jordanian role in the care, protection and maintenance of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, represented by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs in all its facilities, within the framework of the Kingdom and its people’s keenness on the care, reconstruction and restoration of Jerusalem and its holy sites, to preserve the historical Arab-Islamic identity of this city, and to express support for the role of the Jerusalem Endowment Department. And the Jordanian Al-Aqsa Mosque in preserving the sanctuary against the violations and aggressions of the occupying power, and considering it the exclusive and sole legal authority in managing all the affairs of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Al-Haram Al-Sharif. Al-Asoumi called on the international community to respect the international agreements related to the Hashemite guardianship of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Islamic holy sites in the city of Jerusalem.
