Deputizing for HRH Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince, Senate President Faisal Al Fayez sponsored today, Tuesday, the launch of the Arab Network for Youth in Elections, organized by the Independent Election Commission in cooperation with the Arab Organization for Electoral Administrations.
Al-Fayez said in his speech: At the outset, I convey to you the greetings of His Highness the Crown Prince, and his blessing on the launch of the "Arab Network for Youth in Elections", which is the first of its kind in our Arab region.
He indicated that His Majesty King Abdullah II, since assuming his constitutional powers, has raised the slogan of reform in all fields, provided the reform process with strong political will, and established a clear vision for it and for the future of democracy in Jordan.
In this regard, he reviewed some of these achievements, including the first constitutional amendment made during the reign of His Majesty in 2011, which resulted in the Constitutional Court and the Judicial Council. Among the legislations that enhance the integrity and transparency system, popular participation and public freedoms.
Al-Fayez indicated that His Majesty the King attaches great importance to the country's young men and women, believing in their ability to bring about positive change, in order to build a Jordan capable of facing challenges.
For his part, Moussa Al-Maaytah, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Election Commission, said in his opening speech, that we must unleash the energies of young people, because the present and the future have become governed by their aspirations, and contingent upon opening up horizons for them to shape reality, create hope, and fortify societies with strength and strength.
Al-Maaytah added that young people today are armed with various sciences after benefiting from the communication and information revolution in the era of globalization, which enabled them to access knowledge, stressing that political life without youthful levers will be emptied of passion, conscience, and the dynamics of action and movement. From us to support their access to decision-making centers.
He said, We have to realize that our Arab societies still possess the elements of strength, as the common culture, the titles of the economic challenge, and the indicators and percentages of education, may enable us to formulate a decent future for our young sons and daughters.
During the launch ceremony, the President of the General Assembly of the Arab Organization for Electoral Administrations, the Chairperson of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Somalia, Halima Ismail, said that launching this network will contribute to developing the political capabilities of many of our youth and their involvement in political and electoral work.
She emphasized the importance of youth in the growth and prosperity of nations, as they were and still are a pivotal and essential pillar in nation building and progress.
For her part, the representative of the United Nations Program in Jordan Rand Abul-Hassan said that the elections for the United Nations Development Program are the cornerstone of our general work in the field of democratic governance and peacebuilding, and are included in the 2030 Agenda, especially in Goal 16 of the Sustainable Development Goals, as they contribute significantly in achieving the peace agenda.
