Nine people were killed and two others injured after a fire broke out Friday in a hotel in Liping County, southwest China's Guizhou Province.

According to the local emergency management authorities, and reported by the Chinese news agency Xinhua, the accident occurred in a hotel with a brick and concrete structure in the early hours of Friday morning in Zhaoxing.

The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
