The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) will hold a plenary meeting within the resumed Tenth Emergency Special Session (ESS) to discuss the Palestinian issue following the Israeli aggression on Gaza.
The UNGA said that 100 countries and organizations will make statements during the meeting, including Jordan, which requested the resumption of the session in its capacity as Chair of the Arab Group.
Following the 18 October Security Council failure to adopt the draft resolution proposed by Brazil, the office of the President of the General Assembly (PGA) received three letters requesting the resumption of the ESS of the UNGA on "Illegal Israeli actions in occupied East Jerusalem and the rest of the Occupied Palestinian Territory".
Jordan has tabled a draft resolution to be voted on at the ESS. The draft text calls for an immediate ceasefire and unhindered humanitarian access.
It also calls for the rescission of the 13 October evacuation order and "firmly rejects any attempts at forced transfer of the Palestinian civilian population".
