Iran has recorded the highest COVID-19 deaths in the Middle East, surpassing 60,000 fatalities since the outbreak of the pandemic.
"The spokeswoman for Iran's Ministry of Health and Medical Education, Sima Sadat Lari, said that more than 8,000 new cases and 93 deaths from the coronavirus were recorded during the last 24 hours," according to the state's news agency "Irna" on Tuesday.
The total number of COVID-19 infections has exceeded one million, it added.
