As the protesters flocked to the vicinity of the headquarters of the General Command of the Armed Forces in Khartoum, the President of the Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, declared a state of emergency in various parts of the country, dissolving the Sovereignty Councils and Ministers, freezing the work of the Empowerment Committee, and assigning directors-general in the ministries to conduct business.
He also announced the suspension of some articles in the constitutional document, despite its affirmation of commitment to most of its articles, and adherence to the Juba Peace Agreement.
