Nayrouz News Agency : The Tourism Promotion Authority organized a symposium on Jordanian tourism in general and Christian religious tourism in particular, at St. Mark's Cathedral in Cairo.
The Director General of the Jordan Tourism Board, Dr. Abdul Razzaq Arabiyat, said in a press statement to the authority, today, Sunday, that the holding of this symposium comes as a continuation of the visit of His Highness the Crown Prince, which took place last week to the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the positive results obtained from this visit.
He added that in light of the visit, joint work is currently underway to market the Kingdom in tourism at all levels, in addition to meetings with those concerned with the Egyptian tourism affairs to come up with realistic action plans that can be implemented on the ground soon and benefit countries from, which comes in the context of the strength and strength of Egyptian-Jordanian relations.
Arabiyat affirmed that the interest this symposium attracted is tangible evidence that there is a clear consensus between us and our Egyptian partners regarding the authenticity and excellence of the religious tourism sites that are abundant in the Kingdom and their importance to the Egyptian market.
For his part, the head of the Coptic Orthodox sect in the Kingdom, Father Anthony Sobhi Hanna, reviewed the holy places in Jordan, explaining that the symposium came under the title "Fill your soul with light,” and he started talking about the Jordan River and Mar Elias Hill, as well as the place where St. Mary of Egypt lived for 40 years. of her age in Jordan.
Father Anthony continued his talk about the area in which Saint John the Baptist lived in the Baptism, through which many were baptized, and above all the place where Jesus was baptized, reviewing the importance of visiting Umm al-Rasas and the pillar on which Saint Simon al-Amoudi lived for 20 years, and the importance of the churches of Madaba, especially the Roman Church The orthodox by which the mosaic map.
He pointed to the city of Madaba, which has a college that teaches the art of mosaic, whose importance lies in being one of the most important colleges that teach mosaics.
