Today, Thursday, Minister of Agriculture Khaled Al-Hanaifat inaugurated in Amman the first research and development station for pesticides in the Middle East, in the presence of the Swiss Ambassador to Jordan and Iraq Lux Jassa, and representatives of universities and research centers.
Al-Hunaifat stressed that Jordan enjoys political and security stability and a fertile environment for investment to attract large companies and establish stations that support expansion in all sectors, especially the agricultural sector. during research.
He pointed out that these pioneering projects constitute an economic tributary for associations and youth, and that the government is working to develop, update and improve all laws and procedures to support investment in research and development to achieve food security.
The station is affiliated with the largest international company in the field of pesticides, and includes a laboratory for the isolation and identification of agricultural pests, a training hall on techniques for applying crop protection products correctly and safely, how to choose appropriate spray nozzles for crops, pests and various crop protection products, and how to inject crop protection products through the soil.
It also includes protected cultivations in greenhouses, open cultivations, multi-arched greenhouses supported by a central heating system, a warehouse to keep crop protection products safely and correctly, areas for practical training in the field, and a station for the safe and sound disposal of spray solutions by cracking the active materials through heat and evaporation.
Hanifat inspected a project funded by agricultural lending to grow grass, which depends on the investment of treated water, and it is among the interest-free lending packages for pilot projects.
