A medical team at the University of Jordan Hospital, headed by a consultant vascular surgeon, Dr. Tariq Al-Musimi, performed a reconstructive operation for the expansion of the thoracic and abdominal aorta for a 60-year-old suffering from an increasing dilatation of the artery, with technical support from a specialized medical team from Germany and the United Kingdom.
According to a hospital statement today, Monday, Dr. Al-Masimi said that this qualitative operation, which is being conducted for the first time in Jordan, was carried out through the introduction of the latest technology in networks worldwide, which included an equipped network for artery restoration and the introduction of several networks in the thoracic and abdominal aorta, stomach and kidney arteries, and took 4 hours without the need for major surgery.
Al-Musimi indicated that what distinguishes this procedure from what is usually done in such pathological cases, which require a major surgery that may extend for more than 6 hours, is the short duration of the operation, in addition to avoiding the side complications associated with surgeries that may result in the patient being injured. Paralyzed or kidney failure, indicating that this process was done through 3 small incisions in the lower body and neck.
It should be noted that the patient is in good condition, and is still in the hospital until he recovers.
