Nayrouz News Agency : Today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defense of the Republic of Ireland, Simon Coveney, held talks that focused on ways to enhance prospects for distinguished bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, and addressed regional and international developments of common interest, and efforts to resolve crises in the region. .
 The two ministers affirmed keenness to expand the horizons of bilateral cooperation in all fields, especially in the commercial and economic fields. The two ministers agreed to form a working group to develop, in the coming weeks, a program to activate cooperation in a number of issues in the field of food security, water, education, tourism, technology, cultural exchange and research, and other areas of bilateral cooperation that will positively reflect on the development of relations between the two countries. The two ministers reviewed regional developments, foremost of which are those related to the Palestinian issue, and the efforts aimed at finding a real political horizon that would allow a return to serious and effective negotiations to achieve a just and comprehensive peace on the basis of the two-state solution.
 They discussed regional developments and efforts to resolve crises in Syria, Libya and Yemen, in addition to many issues of common interest. Safadi stressed that there is no alternative to a political solution to the Syrian crisis that preserves Syria's unity and cohesion, and the need to intensify efforts to resolve the Yemeni crisis according to the approved references, foremost of which is Security Council Resolution 2216, the outcomes of the national dialogue and the Riyadh Agreement.  Safadi stressed that this solution that embodies an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital on the June 4, 1967 lines is the only way to achieve a just and comprehensive peace, which represents a strategic choice.
 Safadi valued Ireland's historical and consistent positions in support of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, and its continuous support for UNRWA, and added, "We highly value Ireland's positions, efforts and role towards pushing for a return to serious and effective negotiations" to reach a two-state solution. Safadi expressed his thanks for Ireland's continuous support to UNRWA, and its announcement yesterday of additional donations, stressing his aspiration for the Irish Foreign Minister's participation in the conference that the Kingdom will organize in cooperation with Sweden in order to mobilize financial and political support for the Agency this month.
