The women's national team won the seventh West Asian Championship 2022 for the fifth time in its history, after beating its Palestinian counterpart 4-0, in the match that was held yesterday evening, Sunday, at Petra Stadium, in Al Hussein Youth City.
Al-Nashmiyat won the title with the full mark and through three consecutive victories.
Member of the Executive Board of the Jordan Football Association, and Head of the Women’s Committee Stephanie Al-Naber, handed the championship cup to the women, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Federation, Samar Nassar, the Secretary-General of the West Asian Federation Khalil Al-Salem, and a member of the Executive Board of the Lebanese Federation, Asaad Sablini.
Mayssa Jbara won the tournament's top scorer award with six goals, and Rond Kassab won the best goalkeeper award, while the Lebanese Laila Iskandar won the best player award in the tournament.
The national team imposed its control over the match, and took possession of the ball since the beginning of the first half, and was able to open the score through Jabara at the 22nd minute. In the 60th minute, and a penalty kick in the 74th minute, the match ended with the victory of Al-Nashmiyat 4-0.
For his part, the coach of the national team, David Nascimento, confirmed the entitlement of Al-Nashmiyat to win the title with the full score, explaining that the team played a strong championship against technically advanced teams, and we were the best and deserved the crown for the second time in a row.
And he indicated that the presence of new names in the team contributed to enhancing their experience before entering the upcoming competitions.
And the Lebanese team finished runners-up with 6 points, while Syria and Palestine finally settled with one point.
