Amnesty International petition calls for ceasefire in Gaza
Nayrouz News Agency :

Over a million individuals from 167 countries have joined their voices in a petition organized by Amnesty International, urging an immediate cessation of the ongoing gunfire in Gaza.

In a statement published on its official website, Amnesty International accused Israel of perpetrating war crimes, notably singling out the "extermination of entire families" among its alleged offences.

The petition underscored the grievous situation, highlighting the systematic dehumanization of Palestinians. It condemned the deliberate targeting by Israeli authorities of densely populated areas such as refugee camps, hospitals, UN-operated schools, bakeries, and religious sites, alongside civilian homes and infrastructure.

Erika Guevara-Rosas, Senior Director for Research, Advocacy, Policy, and Campaigns at Amnesty International, lamented the distressing reality, stating, "The world bears witness to the ongoing loss of civilian lives amidst relentless Israeli airstrikes and ground operations, unveiling an unprecedented man-made humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza."

"The intensified, unlawful siege imposed by Israel on Gaza has left two million people deprived of fundamental necessities, access to drinking water, food, medical provisions, and fuel. This severe deprivation has resulted in the collapse of the already strained healthcare system," she added.

Guevara-Rosas further underscored the harrowing toll, pointing to tens of thousands wounded and the forced displacement of at least 1.5 million residents from their homes in response to attacks and Israeli military directives to relocate to the southern region of the territory.
