The League of Arab States has issued a warning about the ongoing war in Gaza and the absence of an immediate ceasefire agreement, expressing concerns over the potential escalation of the conflict and its spillover to other fronts.
Arab League Secretary-General Ahmad Aboul Gheit underscored, during his meeting with the head of Mission of the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization Major General Patrick Gauchat, the urgent need for immediate action by those seeking to contain the conflict to achieve a sustainable ceasefire.
The Arab League vehemently condemned the Israeli occupation forces' targeting of hospitals in Gaza, particularly the al-Shifa Hospital, which serves as the main medical centre in the Strip.
Aboul Gheit stressed that such actions are devoid of humanitarian conscience and are criminal under all laws, in addition to flagrantly violating international humanitarian law.
The league highlighted the harsh conditions resulting from the Israeli aggression, exacerbating historical suffering and injustice among new generations of Palestinians and disregarding the safety, dignity, and rights of civilians.
