Nayrouz News Agency :

Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) warned Friday that Mpox outbreak, the high infectious disease that used to be called monkeypox, is out of control in Africa

"The virus has spread at rate that is beyond the capacity of health authorities in African countries and now is out of control”  Jean Kaseya, Director-General of (Africa CDC) said at weekly briefing adding that "we are witnessing a continuous increase in cases’ number which concerns us all”

Kaseya, pointed out that " so far 15 out of 55-member states in African Union have reported  new mpox cases and in one week 2912 new cases were confirmed compared with the previous week”

Kaseya also said Rwanda state  had started a vaccination campaign, while the Democratic Republic of Congo, the epicenter of the outbreak, would start vaccinations in early October.

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the recent outbreak of the Mpox disease a state of public health emergency of international concern after a new variant was identified and it’s the highest level of warning the organization can issue.
