Minister of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs and Holy Sites, Mohammad Khalayleh, warned against Israeli occupation forces' role to allow hundreds of extremist Jews to storm and 'desecrate' courtyards of Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif.
In a press statement, the minster said the extremist Jews’ incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque and historic Islamic cemetery, Bab ar-Rahmah (The Gateway of Mercy), as well as arresting and preventing Jordan-Run Al-Quds Endowment Department employees and guards from practicing their "required" work, are all "condemned and rejected" in law.
These Israeli actions are also deemed a "flagrant" attack against sanctity of Islamic holy places and an infringement on two billion Muslims' feelings worldwide, according to the statement.
Khalayleh noted Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf is making "every possible effort to implement His Majesty King Abdullah II's custodianship to serve, protect and defend" Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Haram Al-Sharif with its entire area of 144 dunums, adding that Al-Haram Al-Sharif is a place of worship "purely for Muslims alone."
