The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Thursday welcomed Yemen's President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi's decision to transfer his powers to a newly established presidential leadership council, in accordance with the Yemeni constitution and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Initiative.

In a statement, Ministry's spokesperson Haitham Abu Ful said that Jordan supports efforts to reach a political solution for the Yemeni crisis based on the approved terms of references, namely the GCC initiative, the Yemeni Comprehensive National Dialogue Conference, and the UN Security Council resolution No. 2216 to bring about peace, safety and security in Yemen and end the suffering of its people.

The Kingdom commended economic support offered by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to Yemen to finance the Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) announced by the United Nations.
