UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in southern Lebanon announced Sunday that an Israeli army bulldozer deliberately demolished one of their observation towers and a perimeter fence in in Marwahin town, slamming this act as a flagrant violation of international law.
"Earlier today, an Israeli army bulldozer deliberately demolished an observation tower and perimeter fence of a UN position in Marwahin,” the UNIFIL said in a statement.
"Yet again, we remind the Israeli army and all actors of their obligations to ensure the safety and security of UN personnel and property and to respect the inviolability of UN premises at all times,” it added.
The peacekeeping force underlined that breaching a UN position and damaging UN assets was "a flagrant violation of international law and Security Council resolution 1701.”
