The priorities of the government and the social protection team "make it imperative” to set a new date for disbursing bread subsidies, especially as efforts are currently focused on supporting daily wage workers and irregular workers who have been affected by the curfew, Mashaqbeh told the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
He said that the disbursement of bread subsidies on the previously set date will disrupt the curfew that the government approved under the Defence Order, as approximately one million people are expected to go to various banks to obtain subsidies.
He stressed that bread subsidies will be given to those who are eligible "at the appropriate time” as soon as circumstances permit.
