Held under the title "United Against COVID-19", the summit witnessed the participation of various heads of state, government leaders and ministers of NAM member states.
Daoud, who headed the Jordanian delegation, briefed the gathering on the Kingdom’s efforts towards halting the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
The minister stressed that, with all challenges that the Kingdom is experiencing, "we are still determined to maintain the achievements made in development fields and to sustain a prosperous economy that includes all components of society, which embodies the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Agreement on climate change”.
Lauding the timing of the summit, Daoud expressed thanks to Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev for his country’s hosting of the summit to mobilise international efforts to battle the COVID-19 pandemic, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
He also urged the international community to respond to the urgent appeals issued by the UNHCR and UNRWA, highlighting the importance of these agencies in supporting the national response to the COVID-19 crisis.
