The startup’s Founder and CEO Mohammad Batikhi briefed Her Majesty on the app’s efforts to create work opportunities for home cooks and the grocery delivery services it has offered during the recent COVID-19 lockdown, according to a statement from Her Majesty’s office.
Within 72 hours of imposing the lockdown, Bilforon’s team transformed the platform into a grocery shopping and delivery application, hosting 30 supermarkets and stores, the statement said.
Prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, the startup conducted rigorous hygiene and food safety tests that potential beneficiaries had to pass before joining the platform. The company also offers beneficiaries training in hygiene and food safety, as well as a rating option for customers.
Founded in 2016,
Bilforon aims to connect home cooks with customers across Jordan,
including businesses that are looking for event caterers. In addition to
linking customers with home cooks, Bilforon assists its beneficiaries,
who are mostly women, with running their businesses from home by helping
them meet and maintain quality assurance standards and customer service
protocols, the statement concluded.
