JMD forecasts heatwave hitting Kingdom to subside on Friday
Nayrouz News Agency : The heatwave that began impacting the Kingdom on Sunday is forecast to continue until Thursday, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).

The heatwave is expected to recede on Friday, the first day of Eid Al Adha, Raed Al Khattab, head of the JMD’s weather forecasting section told Al Mamlaka TV on Monday morning.

The JMD on Monday shared warnings from the World Health Organisation on avoiding sunstroke.

The warnings include wearing clothing, hats and sunglasses that protect against sunlight, avoiding direct sunlight for extended periods, especially noon.

They also include staying under the shadow when walking outside, especially during noontime; protecting children and newborns from direct sunlight as they are more prone to sunstrokes and wearing large hats that protect the face and neck.

The JMD also reiterated its advice to stay well hydrated during the heatwave.

Temperature in Amman are forecast to range between 38°C and 26°C on Tuesday and Wednesday, and between 38°C and 25°C on Thursday, according to the weather department.

In Aqaba, the temperatures are forecast to reach a high of 42°C during the day and a low of 31°C during the night on Tuesday and Wednesday, and between 42°C and 30°C on Thursday.
