Chairing a National Policies Council (NPC) meeting attended by HRH Crown Prince Hussein, King Abdullah urged continuing to disseminate public awareness messages related to COVID-19 health and safety standards, commending Jordan’s advanced position in that regard, according to a Royal Court statement.
During the meeting, attended by HRH Prince Feisal, adviser to His Majesty and NPC chairperson, His Majesty called for stepping up efforts to protect society from COVID-19, and urged taking all measures possible to prevent its spread, in cooperation and coordination with all institutions.
The King called for harnessing all institutional capabilities, energies and experiences in dealing with the pandemic.
The measures taken to counter COVID-19 should take into account mitigating the economic repercussions, His Majesty continued.
For his part, Prime Minister Omar Razzaz said the epidemiological indicators and the recent spike in locally transmitted COVID-19 cases are a cause for concern.
Prime Minister Razzaz added that the government and the concerned stakeholders are continuously monitoring the epidemiological situation in the Kingdom, especially in governorates where cases have been recorded, to devise measures to address any developments.
Also at the meeting, the King was briefed on the latest measures implemented to deal with the pandemic.
