PM applauds Aman app, meets with developers
Nayrouz News Agency : Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Omar Razzaz on Monday highlighted the importance of the Aman (safety) application for smart phones in protecting the public and notifying them if they come into contact with COVID-19 positive people.

During a meeting with the developers of the Aman app, Razzaz expressed the government's appreciation for their efforts, which supported the national endeavours to curb the spread of the virus, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The prime minister stressed that the app, which speeds up procedures in detecting new infections, "preserves the privacy of its users”, where personal information is "only stored” on the users’ phones.

The premier had previously issued a circular to ministries and public departments urging them to call on employees to utilise the Aman application by downloading it onto their smart phones. He had also instructed procedures to deny visitors entry if they had not downloaded the app.

Razzaz also listened to a briefing from the app developers about its goals and work mechanism.

Bashir Salaitah, one of the developers, said that the app is part of the Kingdom's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Salaitah said that the app has contributed to detecting 10 cases since Friday, including five on Sunday.
